9th: Hiding Xservalan

Xservalan is my 2·0 GHz single-processor Xserve, named for Servalan

Huge thanks to HarperCollins for the cast-off piece of desk and to Peter for transporting it to Broxburn.

I'd fixed Xservalan to the side of my
desk several months ago. However
her noise was distracting and
she didn't look pretty.

10th: Fitting new bolt to back gate

Is there no end to my DIY-ness? Er yes - and here is something I fitted to that end!

The original bolt had pulled out,
leaving big holes where the new one
should be screwed. Solution: a small
piece of marine ply, extra holes in
the bolt surround for extra
fixation and a coat of black paint.

You can't tell it's not original
in the dark!

16th: At a bike show in the SECC.

I got to try a recumbent trike - fun but maybe a bit low for road touring. The photos are all too dark but the movies came out OK.

27th: Living below the line

The bulk of our supplies for 10 days cost £6·37, leaving us £3·63 for fresh vegetables. All from Tescos. I wonder if we could have saved a bit more by shopping elsewhere but the cost of the pasta makes me think otherwise. I somehow doubt whether any of this was Fairtrade...

Item Amount Cost
Tesco Scottish porridge oats 1 kg £0·99
Tesco Value long grain rice 1 kg £0·49
Tesco Value vegetable soup 2 * 400 g £0·34
Tesco Value penne 2 * 500 g £0·18
Tesco value veg stock cubes 5 packs of 10 cubes £0·50
Tesco market value brown onions 2 kg £1·18
Indus red split lentils 2 kg £2·69

Here they are!

30th: Malvern

Festival time so the Malvern pagans were out in force. This was on the Herefordshire side of Wyche Cutting.
